Brand: Broken Aspen
Product: Bone & Burr Elk Whole
Actual Antler(s) Pictured, Pictures are in inch scale. Length and width vary
widely with BONE & BURR so please make sure you choose something that is a good
fit for your dogs mouth.
I find that not all antlers should be marketed based on the weight of the dog.
Instead I find that you should look at your dogs chewing habits/needs, and the
size of their mouth when making a determination.
Please feel free to message me if you would like any suggestions on what chew
would be both the longest lasting and most satisfying for your dog.
Antlers are typically marketed by length, not density. These are cut from the
base, and you can actually see that since I've left part of the yummy burr
attached. This is the toughest part of the antler, therefore the longest
lasting cut you can have in an antler. You can also see that it is truly
naturally shed, not a cut off, so totally cruelty free.
These are for power chewers of all size (please look at the scale to make sure
it's the right size for their mouth). I ended up making these for my dog
because he could chew threw all the other cuts I made for him, and we were
going through a bunch of chews. These are typically for a dog whose had antlers
before because more chewing is required to get to the yummy marrow inside.
How long will they last? I find most people order once a month, but it depends
on the antler you give the dog, and their chewing ability.
Is there a smell? No, at least not to the human nose. I'm not quite sure what
my dogs smell, but they know what's in the mail I send out.
Why like antlers? Antlers are a great alternative to other "natural" products
like bully sticks, which are a slaughterhouse waste product. Antlers seem to
keep their teeth clean, strong, and healthy and they make no mess.
I get a lot of messages requesting knowledge about what your dog might like.
Please message me if you'd like to get a suggestion based on breed.
The primary composition of these naturally shed antlers are Calcium and
Phosphorus. Trace amounts of potassium, sodium, magnesium, iron and zinc.
Antlers have been washed in water and had their edges hand sanded to remove any
sharp edges.
Antlers are a natural product, are unique in their shape, and have natural
flaws. I've tried to display a variety of pictures to demonstrate the
uniqueness of the antler. They can range in color from light brown to different
shades of gray and white, depending on how long they've been exposed to the sun
and weather. I've even found some stained pink from the red clay soil they were
shed in.
These antlers were found over the last year by myself and my husband. Elk shed
their antlers every year, and once they move to higher ground for summer we
walked in and searched for them on foot. We are NOT elk farmers who cut off the
?brown? antlers that they sell at a premium price.
If you would like a specific color or shape please feel free to email me
before purchasing to make sure I have what you want available.
Reminders: Please make sure that you supervise your pet while introducing them
to any new chew. Make sure to remove your antler chew from your pet before it's
small enough to be a choking hazard.
